Tucson Sister Cities
Association
Tucson Sister Cities Association (TSCA) is a member of Sister Cities International (SCI) and a part of a global network of more than 2,400 partnerships in 130 plus countries. SCI (www.sister-cities.org) is a citizen diplomacy network creating and enhancing partnerships between communities in the U.S. and communities worldwide through inter-community exchanges, highlighting the common areas of arts, culture, history and heritage.
TSCA was formed in 1991 for the purpose of promoting mutually beneficial relationships between the people of the City of Tucson and the people of Tucson Sister Cities in other countries to realize an awareness of each other; to understand one another as individuals, as members of their community, as citizens of their country, and as part of the family of nations.
Tucson Sister Cities focuses on five broad program areas when developing exchange projects and activities. These are arts, sports, and culture; youth and education; municipal and technical cooperation; disability awareness and; economic relations. These and other activities offer opportunities for ordinary people, municipal leaders and the corporate community, to meet their international counterparts; to make valuable cultural, social, educational, and economic connections; and to realize a vital role as citizen diplomats. All these efforts foster and encourage mutual understanding, friendship, and a higher quality of life for the people of Tucson and its’ sister cities.
Tucson Sister Cities Association mission statement:
Practicing people-to-people diplomacy through education, culture and economic development to acknowledge Tucson ’s International image and impact throughout the world.
